The Role of a location PiC & the Senior Management Team PiC

The Role of the location PiC:

The PiC addresses daily issues of staffing, programming and the building as they arise.

The PiC acts as the point of communication for interactions with representatives from outside JCPL in regard to day to day operations.

The PiC communicates with library staff and ensures that location Supervisors and the Library Manager are aware of unusual activity.

The PiC manages unusual and/or emergency situations.

The PiC employs all resources available by consulting other "PiC-able" staff, Supervisors, Managers and the Senior Management Team PiC as appropriate.

The location PiC -in consultation with colleagues and Supervisors- is empowered and able to resolve more than 99% of the PiC situations.

This percentage may vary by location.

The Role of the SMT PiC:

The Role of the SMT PiC is to provide Advice and Guidance to the location PiCs during particular incidents.

In certain emergency situations, the SMT PiC will take over some communication responsibilities, especially in regard to non-library agencies.

Please refer to the Emergency Decision Tree for more information regarding contacting the SMT PiC.

Please refer to the Emergency Decision Tree for SMT.
